We thank the following organizations and individuals for their continuous support.

BC Academic Health Council

BCAHC serves as a major strategic forum for effective collaboration, partnership and leadership by senior leaders in healthcare, research, and education.  Commitment to collaboration by BCAHC member organizations from the healthcare and post-secondary education sectors will assure an adequate supply of appropriately educated health professionals, which is critical to meeting current and future population and patient health needs in BC.

BCAHC’s four priority goals are:

1. Provide leadership for integrating healthcare provider education planning and implementation with health services priorities, directions, research, and human resource plans.

2. Provide leadership for the development, maintenance, and sustainability of high quality practice education.

3. Provide high quality, relevant membership services (e-HLbc and HSPnet) that are cost-effective.

4. Integrate continuous quality improvement.

College of Health Disciplines

“Providing interprofessional courses on behalf of seven affiliated faculties is an important part of what they do. They work with their partners to generate course ideas that fill current health care needs and give students an enlightening opportunity to study with those in other health and human service disciplines. They now administer 14 courses covering a wide range of topics, from the traditional role of plants in First Nations health, disability and justice, to planning for work in developing countries.

The College of Health Disciplines' mandate to advance interprofessional education and research aims to facilitate patient-centred practice through greater cooperation between the health professions at UBC. They are involved in several interprofessional research endeavours as either the lead organization or collaborator with other universities and community partners. The College's affiliated Institute for Aboriginal Health and Centre for International Health are also highly recognized for their research activities.”

 IRPbc

Interprofessional Rural Program of BC

The Interprofessional Rural Program of BC (IRPbc) supports communities to play a vibrant role in educating students in a rural interprofessional context, as an integral part of health services delivery.   Students actively engage in the community, and participate in interprofessional teamwork in addition to their discipline-specific learning.  The IRPbc works with provincial, regional and local partners to integrate rural interprofessional learning of students with emerging collaborative practice models.  Goals include rural recruitment and retention, fostering interprofessional collaboration and ultimately improving rural health.

The Joint Standing Committee on Rural Issues (JSC)

"The JSC advises the BC Government and the BCMA on matters pertaining to rural
medical services practice. The RSA is intended to enhance the availability and
stability of physician services in rural and remote areas of British Columbia by
addressing some of the unique demanding and difficult circumstances attendant
upon provision of those services by physicians.

The May 2002 Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Government of British
Columbia and the BCMA dissolved the Northern Isolation Committee. Any
responsibilities for the application and administration of rural programs now reside with the JSC."

UBC Faculty of Medicine

“The University of British Columbia is home to the only Faculty of Medicine in British Columbia. It provides innovative educational and research programs in the areas of health and life sciences through an integrated and province-wide delivery model. Founded in 1950 with a graduating class of 60 students, it now has more than 2,590 students at the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels and provides teaching to several thousand additional students from other disciplines at UBC.”
