Williams Lake is located in the central interior of British Columbia.  It is located between Kamloops and Prince George in the central Cariboo region and is accessible by highway and air. Its nickname is BC’s Stampede Capital because it hosts the annual Williams Lake Stampede every Canada Day long weekend.  Williams Lake is also well known for its stock car racing and the main industries are forestry, mining and ranching, logging and milling.  The Thompson Rivers University has a campus located here.  The popular Scout Island is located on the west end of Williams Lake and is a nature sanctuary and park area.
