The rugged west coast of Vancouver Island, home to the world-renowned Pacific Rim National Park and breathtaking scenery, is also the setting for two of Vancouver Island's most picturesque towns.  To the north of the Park is Tofino, to the south is Ucluelet, both of which offer what's known among locals as "life on the edge" - the west edge of Vancouver Island, the west edge of British Columbia, and the west edge of Canada. The community of Ucluelet is known for its natural beauty and small town charm.  Situated on a natural harbour, it is home to numerous fishing boats and charter vessels.  The area is considered to have one of the richest fishing stocks on the Pacific Coast.  Tourism is an important driver of the economy in Ucluelet as visitors from around the world come here for the fishing, whale watching, scuba diving, nature cruises, beachcombing and wilderness hiking.
