The City of Trail is situated on the Columbia River in the Rockies region of BC, 18km north of the Canada-USA boarder. Known as the "Home of Champions", the city takes pride in its reputation for developing successful athletes, industries, and arts and education leaders. A regional and service centre, Trail is also home to one of the largest lead-zinc smelter complexes in the world.
Trail experiences a moderate climate with low humidity, hot dry summers and relatively mild winters with some snow. The average daily maximum temperature in July is 28 degrees Celsius and the average daily minimum for January is -5.9 degrees.
Trail's economy has always been dominated by Teck Cominco's metallurgical operations, however it is also an industrial and business service centre for BC's interior.
