In a quiet valley, surrounded by beautiful green mountains and lush forests, is the picturesque community of Quesnel. Located at the confluence of the Fraser and Quesnel Rivers, Quesnel is the commercial centre of the North Cariboo with forestry as the primary industry.  With a rich history tied to the Gold Rush era, Quesnel comes to life each year in the celebration of "Billy Barker Days" featuring more than 100 sporting events, rodeos and stage shows.  Residents also enjoy a broad range of outdoor activities including camping, hiking, mountain climbing, trail riding and fishing.

Quesnel experiences a definite four-season climate with warm, relatively dry summers and cold winters lasting from November to mid-March.  On average there are 90 days of measurable rainfall and 36 days of measurable snowfall each year.  Weather extremes are unusual although snow may impede traffic on rural roads from time to time.  The average summer temperature is 16 degrees Celsius and the average winter temperature -5 degrees.
