Gibsons is among the larger communities of the Sunshine Coast, a region whose namesake derives from the considerable sunshine it receives. The relaxed style, stunning natural beauty and year-round recreational opportunities of the area make it a highly desirable place to take root. Its close proximity to Vancouver gives residents the chance to experience city life, and return home, all on the same day.

Gibsons, known as the gateway to the Sunshine Coast, is a thriving oceanside community slated to double its population of 4,000 over the next 25 years. Originally part of the territory of the Squamish Nation, present day Gibsons is known worldwide as the scenic filming location for the long-running television series The Beachcombers. Temperatures average 4 degrees Celsius in the winter and 17 degrees Celsius in the summer.

Industry:

While resource industries such as forestry, mining and fishing have long played a prominent role in the Sunshine Coast economy, today there is considerable growth in tourism, the arts and high tech.
