Recreational facilities in Clearwater include a track & field facility, baseball fields, soccer fields, snowmobile trails, an ice arena, an aquatics facility, a curling arena, a small downhill ski hill, 2 golf courses, and fitness gyms.  The town is also the access point for British Columbia's fourth largest provincial park, Wells Gray Provincial Park.  A wide variety of service and special interest clubs and organizations are active in the community.

The surrounding wilderness, virgin forests, rivers, lakes and streams make the Clearwater area a perfect backdrop for a broad range of outdoor recreational activities.  With is abundant snowfall, Clearwater is a virtual winter playground.  The Clearwater Ski Hill offers five runs.

The world-famous Helmcken Falls in nearby Wells Gray Provincial Park forms an ice cone, which can be viewed by backcountry skiers.

Other popular outdoor activities include cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, camping, whitewater rafting and kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, fishing, golfing, hunting and hiking.
