The Village of Burns Lake is located in the scenic Lakes District of Northern British Columbia at the approximate geographic center of the province. It is a vibrant, progressive and socially diverse community with a pioneer spirit and small town charm. Forestry is the main driver of the economy here, employing 65% of the population. With bountiful wildlife and spectacular scenery, Burns Lake is also a tourist destination. Both residents and visitors enjoy hiking, canoeing, fishing, skating and cross-country skiing in the area. The community is also home to several arts and cultural festivals.

Industry: 

Forestry, ranching and tourism form the basis of the local economy with tourism expected to play an increasingly important role in the future. In addition, Burns Lake is a primary service centre for the Lakes District.
