Barriere, gateway to the North Thompson Valley, is located 66 kilometres north of the city of Kamloops at the convergence of the Barriere and North Thompson Rivers in BC's Interior Region.  Though largely a forestry and ranching community, tourism has grown in importance here due to the excellent fishing, hunting, hiking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling and golf available in the area.  One of the annual highlights in Barriere is the North Thompson Fall Fair, which features food and gardening exhibitions, livestock shows and a rodeo.
